Zeki Günal – Özgür Eren / Istanbul, Sep 2 (DHA) - As the September 1 “Day of Peace” marked the agenda amid security tension in Turkey, a group of around 500 people that have wanted to march on Taksim’s Istiklal street and compose a “peace chain” within protest were intervened by riot police officers with water cannons and tear gas.

While around 14 protesters within the group led by the anti-government “United June Movement” were detained, a reporter working for state run news agency Anadolu Ajansı, Melik Fırat Yücel, was wounded on eyebrow. Another photo journalist working for AFP was briefly detained and then released.
